In an effort to make our earth a better place to live, the green movement has been sweeping over the globe. Not only are individuals doing things to help our environment, companies are as well. More products these days are being made out of eco friendly materials. Here five items that are innovative and green.
iPod
Apple has been pulling their weight to be green by manufacturing iPods with eco-friendly materials. Here are some ways that the iPod is eco-friendly:
- PVC free USB cable
- The display glass is free from arsenic
- Packaging materials are all eco-friendly
- The adapter is a low energy user
- The A4 processor by apple is a low energy consumer
Nokia 3110 Evolve
Cell phones are infamous for being non eco-friendly. New cell phones are always being made, and people are discarding their old phones at an alarming rate. As a result, Nokia have decided to do their part for the environment in the construction of the Evolve. Its shell is made from unpainted bio-sourced materials, which are 50 percent renewable. The charger to the Evolve surpasses the Energy Star standards by 95 percent. Essentially, this phone's charger almost uses no electricity when plugged in. Eco-friendly doesn't equal boring, of course - it has an Mp3 player, web browser, email client, camera, and FM radio.
USB flash drives
Many USB flash drives are now being made out of recycled plastics and materials such as newspaper, wood, and other non toxic materials. Technology companies realize they play a big part in the green movement, and thus, they are making improvements in their products to be more eco-friendly.
Vacuum cleaners
Many people may not know this, but vacuum cleaners have been eco-friendly for years. The use of filters reduce the amount of paper used for bags. The paper bags themselves are usually made out of nontoxic materials. Many vacuum cleaners operate under 8 amps of power for low energy consumption, and these days, vacuum cleaners are being made out of recycled materials. More expensive models, such as those made by Dyson, are entirely bagless and use washable internal filters that don't need to be replaced.
JVC plant speakers
Speakers themselves are common, but you will not likely find speakers like these in many places. JVC has developed speakers made out of eco-friendly plastic with a plant on top. This speakers were unveiled at the Tokyo Design Week. The plant on top of the speakers creates a green, lively feeling in your home. You can also link these speakers together for more fun.
